The concept for “Best for Business” was developed over several years through the course of countless interviews and conversations with CityBusiness sources. Once we covered the pertinent subject matter, the discussion often turned to food, as is wont to happen when you work in New Orleans.
The questions are familiar: What’s your favorite lunch spot? Where do you take out-of-town clients? Who makes the best martini?
I kept those answers in the margins of notebooks with the thought of eventually compiling them in some fashion. In the interim, influences such as social media and restaurant industry reporting from other outlets and our own newsroom have helped shape the selections that follow and keep them current.
The standouts highlighted in the slideshow that follows are certain to spark differences of opinion among our readers. We should discuss them — over lunch.
Take a dynamite setting, add the deft touch of chef Chip Flanagan and polish it with owner Ralph Brennan’s know-how, and you have one of the city’s most distinct restaurants. Parties and meetings at Ralph’s often spill from its charming interior to its inviting balcony, and the bar area provides another venue for interaction. Most important for large gatherings, the food quality doesn’t suffer a bit when cooked for quantity.
